Seeing the potential of Banyuwangi Regency, PT. Angkasa Pura (AP) II as the operating company is planning to develop Banyuwangi Airport to become an International Airport. For that purpose, the runway needs to be extended and widened. This Banyuwangi project is a ground improvement project to provide a stable runway structure above the compressible layer using FDC (Full Displacement Column) with Ø420mm, 12 m of a column and spread over 7,000 m2 area. In Banyuwangi most of the mortar suppliers are not familiar with the mix design of this FDC work, extra effort for the trial mix had been done and after that continuously ensure the supply quality is maintained each day. With the strict time of a working hour (10:00 p.m. to 04:00 a.m), by using two rigs BG 28, the work was completed with good delivery of quality, safety and ahead from the schedule.
